Located deep in the countryside of County Wexford, the Mellons’ Georgian home was built around 1760, and is characterised by a symetrical design and large sash windows. ‘Although it may seem rather grand from the outside, inside it has only four bedrooms,’ says John. ‘ But it has a relaxed atmosphere and that’s why we love it. It has a great sense of age and history, but it is still family home.’

A distinctive home with eclectic styling doesn’t come about by chance. Dedicated planning and a fair helping of trial and error are generally what is needed to achieve a livable balance between creating a great look that also functions superbly.
Space and light were crucial considerations in the kitchen with the recently completed conservatory. Initially, the kitchen was confined with only one small window for natural light.
