Frequently Asked Questions About Installation

Signing the contract for your greenhouse isn’t the end of the journey; it’s the beginning of our master craftsmen bringing your structure to life.

Find answers to our frequently asked questions here, covering what you can expect before, during, and after your new greenhouse is installed.

Before installation

To best prepare for the delivery of your greenhouse, here’s everything you need to know about lead times, site preparation, and coordination with your builder before our installation team arrives.
Our manufacturing process typically takes approximately four months. Our contracts team will provide you with a more specific timeline tailored to your project and keep you updated if anything changes.
Our installation team generally work Monday through Thursday, with most greenhouse installs completed within this four-day timeframe. We can accommodate alternative days on a case-by-case basis, so please speak with your contract coordinator to discuss your options.

If you need to reschedule your installation then get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Changes may require your installation to be cancelled and re-booked, which may result in an extended waiting period due to our installers being booked out on other projects.

Our pricing, as per your contract, is completely inclusive of delivery and installation, so you will not incur any additional charges from Hampton after the contract is signed. The only external costs you need to plan for are your builder’s fees for the base and any third-party additions you choose to source, such as underfloor heating or water hookups.

The base, constructed by a builder of your choosing, must be completed prior to your agreed installation date. We recommend having the base completed at least two weeks in advance of your greenhouse installation, as it needs to fully signed off by your builder and final measurements sent to us.

We provide precise technical drawings and specifications for you to share with your builder, and once the base is complete, we provide a document for your builder to complete, sign, and return to us, which verifies that the base is perfectly level and constructed to the correct dimensions and specifications. If our installation team arrives and finds the base is incorrect or unsuitable, the builder must rectify the errors before installation can commence.
All of our greenhouse designs are compatible with utility extras like underfloor heating, water taps, and lighting; however, Hampton does not provide or fit these utility hookups. Your chosen builder or contractor must install all first-fix utility lines before our team’s arrival.
Only Hampton can install our own greenhouses. This ensures that the build is done correctly and to our standards.

Any existing greenhouse or garden structure should ideally be removed before placing your order, and must be removed before your builder measures the base. This ensures the base is fully exposed so accurate dimensions, diagonals and levels can be taken. If you would like independent verification, Hampton offers a professional survey service, at an additional cost, where one of our experienced surveyors will inspect and measure the exposed base to confirm its suitability for your new greenhouse.

Possibly, but you should never assume that an existing base will be suitable for a new Hampton greenhouse.

The first step is for your builder to provide us with accurate measurements of the existing base, including its overall dimensions, diagonals and levels. Our technical team will then assess whether the base is compatible with one of our standard greenhouse models. If it isn’t, don’t worry – Hampton also specialises in designing and manufacturing bespoke greenhouses, allowing us to create a building that is tailored precisely to your existing base or available space.

Should the existing base be suitable, your builder will be required to complete and sign our base verification document before installation can proceed. If you would prefer independent verification, Hampton also offers a professional survey service, at an additional cost, where one of our experienced surveyors will inspect and measure the existing base on your behalf.

The Hampton team is fully liable for your greenhouse throughout transit and installation, and we take every step to ensure that your new greenhouse is fully protected from the moment it leaves our factory. Until you take full ownership of the greenhouse after installation, in the highly unlikely event of damage or defect, it is Hampton’s responsibility to make good.

Every Hampton greenhouse is installed by experienced fitters who have been trained and approved by Hampton. Whether employed directly by Hampton or working as part of our approved installation network, every installer follows our proven installation methods and works to the same exacting quality standards, ensuring your greenhouse is installed with the care and precision for which Hampton is renowned.

From our daily working hours to potential weather disruptions, here’s everything you can expect from our team whilst on-site. Our expert installers manage the construction site efficiently while respecting your home and privacy.
Installation typically takes four days. While unforeseen circumstances can occasionally impact schedules, we communicate clearly and work swiftly to avoid delays.

Our installers usually work between 07:00 and 18:00, but this may vary slightly depending on your location. If you need to amend our installer’s usual working hours, please discuss this with our contracts team as early as possible.

No, you do not need to be home for the duration of the build. However, if your garden cannot be accessed without entering your property or unlocking a secure gate, someone will need to be present at the beginning and end of each working day to let our team in and out.
Our team can safely and efficiently transport all greenhouse components through a standard single garden gate or doorway.
Our team work with the utmost care and consideration of your garden. Where possible, it is best to temporarily move any garden furniture away from the area that we will be working in.
Our head fitter will be on-site throughout the duration of the installation. They’ll act as your dedicated site foreman and will happily answer any questions you may have.
You can speak directly with the head fitter to address any concerns. If you’d prefer, you can contact our contracts team at any time throughout the installation as well.
Our installation team is entirely self-sufficient; they do not require access to toilet facilities, food, or drinks.
Our team is well-equipped to work through most weather conditions and is unlikely to pause the work due to rain, snow, or particularly high or low temperatures. However, if extreme weather poses any risk for the greenhouse itself or our staff, we may temporarily pause the installation. Work will be resumed at the earliest safe opportunity, and our team will do their best to keep your completion date as close to schedule as possible, working through the weekend if necessary.
No, a skip is not required; Hampton will manage and remove all project-related waste and debris from your property at the end of the project.
For their own safety, we strongly recommend keeping pets secured while our installers are on-site. Our team will be using power tools and manoeuvring large panels with restricted vision, and garden gates may be left open for easy access. If you need to let a dog out in the garden, please just give our team a heads-up first.
In the unlikely event that a greenhouse component is damaged during delivery or installation, it will be replaced free of charge as swiftly as possible.

After installation

Once construction is complete, our team will ensure you are completely satisfied with the finished product and fully confident in operating and maintaining your new Hampton greenhouse.
During a final walk-through, our head fitter will give you a comprehensive, guided tour of your new greenhouse’s features, demonstrating how to operate the roof vents, door, and any other selected Hampton accessories.
Our installation team will provide you with relevant maintenance information before they depart on the final day of installation and you will receive full support from our after-sales customer care team, if you have any questions at a later date.
We encourage you to point out any areas of concern during a final walk-through with the head fitter, before the team leaves on the last installation day. In the unlikely event your greenhouse has any issues, our team should be able to rectify them on the spot.
Our team won’t schedule an in-person visit to check the structure; however, the after-sales customer care team will be in touch via phone a few weeks after installation. This final consultation will give you the opportunity to raise ask any questions, and give feedback on your experience.
Your greenhouse is ready for use immediately after installation.
